The European Bangladesh Forum (EBF), a platform of Bangladeshi diaspora in Europe is organising a Conference on Tuesday 11 July 2017, at 14:00–18:00 on “Countering Violent Extremism: Global Context and the Bangladeshi Diaspora” and its impact and policy options to defend secularism & democracy at the Press Club Brussels Europe in Brussels, Belgium. This conference is a follow up event from the previous seminar held on 18 October 2016 at the European Press Club in Brussels, addressing Islamist attacks in Dhaka and Brussels.
The rise of Islamism across the globe and groups like ISIS, including localised Islamist militants, who are propagating hate messages against other faith communities, free thinkers and carrying out violent acts must be challenged and stopped.
The Brussels Conference on 11 July 2017 will hopefully provide a platform for South Asians and Europeans activists/policy makers to come together to understand the impact of Islamist terrorism and explore ways to provide assistance to those who are under attack from the Islamists.
Speakers including three MEPs, two MPs and also from Bangladesh, members of the Bengali community from Belgium, Netherlands, UK, France, Switzerland, Germany and different stakeholders including representatives from a couple of European and international rights based organisations, academicians, researchers, activists will take part in the conference.
While it’s free of charge to attend the event with dinner, you are requested to register by sending a reply mail with your name or name of your organisation that you may represent and your contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org
